Gandhis’ New Year’s Eve: Homemade Orange Marmalade Recipe Shared in Video

New Delhi : On the eve of New Year’s Day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his mother, Sonia Gandhi, ushered in 2023 by creating homemade orange marmalade from fruits plucked fresh from their kitchen garden. The recipe, belonging to Rahul’s sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was featured in a heartwarming video posted on Rahul’s YouTube channel under the banner of “Bharat Jodo Yatra” – a march for a united India.

A Family Affair

In the video, the two Gandhis are seen strolling to their kitchen garden with a wicker basket to gather oranges. Rahul, with a playful tone, questions his mother about the necessity of cutting the fruit when they could simply pluck it. Sonia Gandhi explains the importance of using perfectly ripe fruit while revealing that the marmalade recipe is Priyanka’s creation.

Once inside the clean and minimalist kitchen, the duo starts working on the oranges. Rahul stirs a mixture of fruit pulp and sugar in an aluminum vessel over low flame, humorously suggesting that even members of the BJP are welcome to enjoy the jam. Sonia Gandhi playfully responds, foreseeing a humorous scenario where the jam might be thrown at them, eliciting laughter from both.

Jovial Atmosphere

The video captures the warmth and joy in the Gandhi household as they prepare the marmalade together. After the process is complete, they carefully jar the marmalade and attach a heartwarming message on a piece of brown paper that reads, “With love, from Sonia and Rahul.”

A Glimpse into Sonia Gandhi’s Culinary Journey

The video also provided insights into Sonia Gandhi’s culinary journey in India. She reminisced about adapting to Indian flavors, especially the fiery taste of chillies, when she first arrived in the country.

Bharat Jodo Yatra Campaign

The video was embedded with the logo of the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi. The yatra, which commenced on September 7 from Kanyakumari, traversed 12 states, culminating in Jammu and Kashmir after covering a distance exceeding 4,000 km over 135 days.

The marmalade-making video not only showcased the Gandhis’ culinary skills but also offered a glimpse into their personal lives, highlighting moments of warmth, humor, and family bonding as they ushered in the New Year.
