International Women’s Day: On International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the role of women in India’s progress and said his government will continue to work for women’s empowerment. In a tweet, Modi said, “On International Women’s Day, saluting our women power for their achievements.” We greatly appreciate the role of women in the progress of India.

He said, ‘Our government will continue to work to further the empowerment of women.’ The Prime Minister also shared on Twitter a compilation of women achievers whose life journeys were profiled in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh recalled the glorious contributions of ‘Nari Shakti’ in various walks of life.

He tweeted, ‘Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, this government is continuously working towards women empowerment through various effective schemes and programs. From posting in Siachen to serving on warships, Indian women are breaking barriers in every field in the armed forces.’ External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also extended greetings on Women’s Day and appreciated the contribution of women power in the development story of ‘self-reliant India’.
