In the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the spotlight is on Kerala, where both the BJP and Congress are aiming for victory. On April 26, 1,202 candidates across 88 constituencies will compete. Let’s take a look at some of the key contenders in Phase 2:

Hema Malini (BJP), Mathura: Hema Malini, who has been in politics for 20 years, wants to continue representing Mathura, which is famous as Lord Krishna’s birthplace.

Rajeev Chandrashekhar (BJP), Thiruvananthapuram: Rajeev Chandrashekhar, a newcomer to elections, is challenging Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram. He is known for his work in information technology.

Shashi Tharoor (Congress), Thiruvananthapuram: Shashi Tharoor, a three-time MP, is well-known for his good language skills. He’s facing tough competition from Chandrashekhar.

Rahul Gandhi (Congress), Wayanad: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition, is contesting from Wayanad. He faces competition from BJP and CPM candidates.

Vaibhav Gehlot (Congress), Jalore: Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of a senior Congress leader, is trying his luck from Jalore, Rajasthan.

Arun Govil (BJP), Meerut: Arun Govil, famous for playing Lord Ram in a TV series, is contesting from Meerut.

Tejasvi Surya (BJP), Bangalore South: Tejasvi Surya, known for his energy and speeches, is contesting again from Bangalore South.

Bhupesh Baghel (Congress), Rajnandgaon: Bhupesh Baghel, a former Chief Minister, is contesting despite facing legal issues.

KC Venugopal (Congress), Alappuzha: KC Venugopal, a close associate of Rahul Gandhi, is contesting from Alappuzha.

Ravindra Singh Bhati (Independent), Barmer: Ravindra Singh Bhati, a young candidate, is contesting independently from Barmer.

These candidates represent the diversity of Indian politics and will shape the future of the country as Phase 2 unfolds.
