Ahmedabad: The balcony of a dilapidated house on the route of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Dariyapur area of ​​Ahmedabad collapsed on Tuesday afternoon. During this one person died and five others were injured. Inspector JS Choudhary of Dariyapur police station said that some of the injured were standing on the balcony of the second floor watching the Rath Yatra. Some people were standing below.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital, where Mehul Panchal (36) died during treatment, while the condition of the other five is said to be stable, he said. It can be seen in the video of the incident that when the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was passing, three people were standing in the balcony. The two-storey building is said to be old and dilapidated.

It is being told that all the dangerous and dilapidated buildings on the Rath Yatra route should be given notice by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The building where the accident took place near Kadianaka was also in a dilapidated condition. However, it is not clear whether notice was given by the administration in this matter or not.

Several reports are claiming that the owner of an old house near Kadianaka was standing with three others to watch the Rath Yatra. Meanwhile, suddenly he fell down from the slab. At present, it is being told that five people are injured. All have received minor injuries. The injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital.

It is also being claimed that the incident took place when prasad was being distributed to the people around by trucks during the Rath Yatra. Local people say that when people came down to take the prasad, the balcony fell and many people were hit by it. However, the Rath Yatra is proceeding without any hindrance.
