Gujarat: Man and his daughter die as parcel explodes at home, probe on

Gujarat: An official said two people were killed when a parcel being delivered to a man’s house exploded in Gujarat, an official said. Two others were injured when electronic goods delivered by an unidentified person exploded in Gujarat’s Wadali.

A police official said to media,”The parcel was delivered by an unidentified man. As soon as the electronic item was plugged in, there was a blast.” Wadali police station sub-inspector Jitendra Rabari said the incident took place in Veda village.

The police said that the deceased have been identified as Jitendra Hirabhai Vanzara and his daughter Bhumika Vanzara. He added that Bhumika died while being taken to a hospital for treatment. His two other daughters, one 9 years old and the other 10 years old, suffered severe burn injuries in the incident, causing panic among the villagers.

Both the girls were immediately rushed to Himantanagar Civil Hospital for treatment. Assistant Resident Medical Officer Vipul Jani told PTI that one of the injured girls is in a critical condition and has been put on ventilator. When doctors conducted an X-ray of the girls, they found wires with iron pieces.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and started investigation. A relative of the victims said that the parcel was delivered in an autorickshaw. Police are investigating whether the family had ordered the items or not.
