Chandigarh: In a bone-chilling murder case reported from Haryana’s Hisar, an assistant professor and his daughter were found dead inside his office at a university campus in Haryana this evening, hours after he told his wife they were going on a short scooter ride. He slit the throat of his eight-year-old daughter with a surgical blade before dying by suicide. He used the same blade to cut his throat.
Accused and victim identified as Sandeep Goyal and his daughter were found by his wife inside the office at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) in Hisar.
His colleagues cited his depression health, police said. “We will speak to the concerned doctor to find out about his exact health condition”, said Hisar assistant superintendent of police Rajesh Mohan. A forensics team is also at the scene, he said.
According to the deceased’s wife, Goyal left home with his daughter at 4 pm on Sunday. He told his wife that he was taking the girl out for a joyride. The duo however did not return for hours and the worried woman went looking for her husband and child. She reached the University Campus and found her husband’s scooter parked outside the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology.
When she approached the department gate, she found that it was locked from inside. She swiftly then alerted the security guards at the campus. As the guards broke open the gate, the woman discovered a horrifying scene. Her husband and daughter lay in a pool of blood, both had been seemingly dead for hours.
Sandeep Goyal was working as an assistant professor at the LUVAS university since 2016.
