New Delhi: Following the unexpected demise of Mukhtar Ansari, a notorious politician, at Banda Medical College Hospital in Uttar Pradesh, local authorities have significantly ramped up security measures. Ansari succumbed to a cardiac arrest late last night, sending ripples through the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh. Security has been tightened in several Uttar Pradesh towns after gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari died of a cardiac arrest. His family though allege that the gangster, who has been in jail since 2005, was poisoned.

Prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed across the state and teams of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with the local police have been deployed in Banda, Mau, Ghazipur and Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said earlier.
