High alert in Haryana, more forces deployed after communal violence; Several injured

Huge communal violence in Nuh claims 5 lives so far. And more than 40 people have been injured. According to the report, more than 20 FIRs have been registered. At the same time, 15 companies of CRPF and RAF have been deployed.

Chandigarh: Huge communal violence in Nuh claims 5 lives so far, including 2 home guards and 3 civilian. At the same time, around 45 people are injured in the whole of Haryana. These include 7 policemen. So far 20 FIRs have been registered and 15 companies of CRPF and RAF have been deployed. Home Minister Anil Vij has said that curfew has been imposed in the violence-hit Nuh district of Haryana. On the other hand, on the Nuh incident, Maulvi Mufti Zahid Hussain of Badi Masjid has appealed to the people to maintain peace.

All school colleges closed
After the violence, all the schools, colleges and educational institutions of Faridabad will remain closed today. On the other hand, Section 144 has been implemented in Gurugram with immediate effect.

RAF demands to send 20 companies
The Haryana government has urged the Center to send 20 companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) for a week to help maintain law and order in Nuh district. Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) TVSN Prasad has written a letter to the Union Home Secretary. In this, a demand has been made to provide 20 companies of RAF “immediately” for a week from 31 July. The Union Home Ministry told that it is sending 15 additional companies of central forces to Haryana.

Police said that the violence that broke out when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) tried to stop the procession in Nuh district spread to Gurugram as well. According to the report, the mob killed a 26-year-old man in Sector-57 of the city and set a mosque on fire.

The mob opened fire, due to which two people were injured and one of them succumbed during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Saad, a resident of Bihar. This is the third death in the state amid “serious communal tension” triggered by the violence that broke out in Nuh.

Police said that the mob reached the Anjuman Masjid in Sector-57 after midnight and some people fired at the people present in the mosque and set the premises on fire. Earlier in Nuh district, a mob tried to stop the VHP procession, pelted stones and set cars on fire. Two Home Guard soldiers died in the violence. As news of the violence spread in Muslim-majority Nuh, four vehicles and a shop were torched by a mob in nearby Sohna.
