New Delhi: With Holi, the vibrant Hindu festival of colors, approaching on March 25, 2024, preparations and regulations are underway in various parts of India.
In Delhi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that metro services will not be available until 2:30 PM on the day of Holi. Operations will commence from terminal stations, and services on non-terminal stations will follow suit later in the day.

On the day of the ‘Holi festival, i.e. 25th March, 2024 (Monday), Metro services will NOT be available till 2:30 PM on all Lines of the Delhi Metro including Rapid Metro/Airport Express Line.

Meanwhile, in Noida and Greater Noida, banquet halls, farmhouses, restaurants, and other establishments have been instructed by the Excise Department to ensure that organizers of events obtain an occasional bar license if they intend to serve liquor. Failure to obtain the license may result in legal action against both the organizers and the management of these establishments.
The Excise Department issued a notice on March 11, emphasizing the necessity of obtaining an occasional bar license for serving liquor during Holi festivities or at clubs in societies, community centers, farmhouses, resorts, banquet halls, and marriage lawns. Additionally, the notice stipulates that only liquor authorized for sale in Uttar Pradesh should be consumed during such events.
Holi, also known as the “Festival of Colours,” holds immense cultural significance and is celebrated with fervor across India. Beyond the joyous splashing of colors, the festival involves lighting bonfires to symbolize the victory of good over evil, particularly the burning of the demon Holika.
