In a dramatic turn of events, two individuals in Hyderabad have been apprehended for allegedly counterfeiting Indian currency notes, inspired by the web series ‘Farzi’. The prime accused, identified as Vanam Laxminarayana, showcased computer expertise, employing a screen printer, green foil paper, JK Excel bond papers, cutters, and a lamination machine to produce fake currency totaling over ₹4 lakh.

Hyderabad Men Arrested for Printing Fake Currency. The alleged accomplice, Erukala Pranay Kumar, was caught testing counterfeit money amounting to ₹20,000 at a local fruit and vegetable market. The police, led by Inspector Anjaneyulu, successfully confiscated 810 fake currency notes in ₹500 denominations intended for circulation. Additionally, printers, scanners, and other tools used in the counterfeiting operation were seized during the investigation.

The motivation behind the crime was revealed to be Laxminarayana’s inspiration from the ‘Farzi’ web series, prompting him to print fake notes and introduce them into the market. Further inquiry uncovered that Laxminarayana, previously involved in mortgage fraud, enticed Kumar into the illegal activity by promising a share of the profits.
