Hyderabad: Tax raids at restaurant owned by Andhra Pradesh Congress chief YS Sharmila’s relative

Hyderabad: On Tuesday, an official said that the Income Tax Department raided a restaurant in Hyderabad. He also said that the restaurant owned by a relative of Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila Reddy.

The IT officials reportedly conducted simultaneous searches on the firm’s industrial unit and simultaneous raids also took place at the owner’s residence.

A popular breakfast shop in the city, is owned by Ataluri Padma, whose daughter is married to YS Sharmila’s son, Raja Reddy. Given the widespread popularity of the chutney and the political connections of its owner, the raid has caused a sensation in business circles.

This development has come to light before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state. There has been no official statement from Chutney management or Income Tax Department officials regarding the raid.

Lok Sabha elections in the state will be held on May 13 along with elections to the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
