IIT-Guwahati ,21-year-old girl,student from Telangana found dead in hotel room after New Year party

Guwahati: An official said that a fourth-year girl student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in the Paltan Bazaar area of the city after partying on New Year's Eve.

Guwahati: An official said that a fourth-year girl student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in the Paltan Bazaar area of the city after partying on New Year’s Eve.

Giving information about this incident, Police said that 21-year-old Pulluri Aishwarya student, who hailed from Telangana, had gone to a new year party on the evening of December 31 with her three batchmates in the Paltan Bazaar area of ​​the city, about 25 km from the institute.

They further said that the girl was found dead under mysterious conditions the next morning. Police added that the reasons behind the death of the student, Aishwarya, had not yet been ascertained.

After the incident, a police officer said, “They had booked two rooms in a hotel through online mode. Post midnight, they reached the hotel for check-in. According to the hotel staff, they were inebriated. We are investigating that part.”

The next morning, the girl was found unconscious in the toilet by her friend, who lived in the same room. He was taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.The officer said, “We have launched our investigation and are interrogating all her friends. Other people are also being questioned.”

According to the information, the victim has been identified as Aishwarya Pulluri, a BTech fourth-year student in the Electronics and Communications department. Besides her, another female and two male students had checked-in at the hotel. Meanwhile, issued a statement, IIT-Guwahati expressing condolences to the family of the student.

In a statement,IIT-Guwahati mentioned,”It is with deep regret that IIT Guwahati shares the unfortunate news of the death of a student outside the campus on 31st December 2023. The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.”
