IMD forecast predicts no heatwave conditions over most of India for next 5 days, relief from scorching heat

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that for the next 5 days there are signs of relief from the scorching heat conditions in most parts of the country. The department said that one area of ​​cyclonic winds has formed over northwest Madhya Pradesh and another over interior Tamil Nadu. A relatively low pressure area is expected to form from northwest Madhya Pradesh through Telangana to south Tamil Nadu.

Private weather agency Skymet Weather said that light rain is expected across Northeast, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Western Himalayas, parts of Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, South-East Uttar Pradesh, South-East Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and South-Interior Karnataka are likely to experience showers.

Skymet said that another low pressure area (trough) has formed from Northeast Bihar to Odisha via Jharkhand. Weather experts say that ‘troughs’ usually cause cloud cover and rain, causing the temperature to drop. According to the department, people are facing heat wave conditions in many parts of the country since last few days.

High temperatures in the northern and central plains forced local administrations to either change school timings or close schools until the weather improves. In Maharashtra, the government has closed all the schools affiliated to the state board till June 15. In Vidarbha region, summer vacation has been extended till June 30. Earlier this month, the department had forecast above-normal maximum temperatures in most parts of the country from April to June, except for the north-west and peninsular regions.

Some areas have started getting relief from the heat since Friday, while some other areas such as North-West, Central and East India, Interior Gujarat and Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala recorded temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius. done

On Saturday, the rest of the country, barring the western Himalayan region, recorded a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius. The department said on Saturday that the heat wave has eased somewhat from Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha. There is no heat wave condition in most parts of India during the next five days, the department said.

The weather office said hailstorm is expected in parts of Odisha in the next three days, Bihar in the next two days and Vidarbha on Monday. Heavy rain is expected in parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Sunday and Odisha on Monday. Dust storm is expected in South Haryana, Northeast Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, the weather office said.

Skymet said that light rain is expected over the entire Northeast, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Most parts of West Bengal recorded maximum temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the weather department said, with light rain expected in many areas in the next 24 hours. The department said that the temperature in Kolkata was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. Light to moderate rain is expected in the districts of South Bengal in the next 24 hours.

People got some relief from the scorching heat due to light rain at different places in Bihar. A few degree drop in temperature was recorded. During the last 24 hours, many parts of the state received hailstorm with scattered rain. Light rain occurred in Arwal, Bhojpur, Buxar, Patna, Nawada, Nalanda, Sitamarhi, West Champaran and East Champaran. The India Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius at Jiradei in Saran district.

The department said that several parts of Bihar also recorded a slight drop in the maximum temperature, which brought some relief from the scorching heat in the state in the last few days. According to the department, there will be light rain with strong winds at some places in the state on Sunday. can The department said that Vaishali recorded the maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhojpur and Bhagalpur at 38 degrees Celsius.
