IMD issues rain alert in many states including UP-Madhya Pradesh today

New Delhi: The weather continues to fluctuate. Meanwhile, people will get relief from the scorching heat for a few more days.Temperatures are still above average, but there is a rain alert in the western Himalayan region and the plains of north-west India. The Meteorological Department has said that the heatwave will end from eastern India after Saturday, while a warning of heavy rain has been issued in the states of north-eastern India for the next two days.

New Delhi: The weather continues to fluctuate. Meanwhile, people will get relief from the scorching heat for a few more days.Temperatures are still above average, but there is a rain alert in the western Himalayan region and the plains of north-west India. The Meteorological Department has said that the heatwave will end from eastern India after Saturday, while a warning of heavy rain has been issued in the states of north-eastern India for the next two days.

According to the Meteorological Department, some parts of East India, East Uttar Pradesh, Central India and Maharashtra have recorded maximum temperatures between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius. Temperatures ranged from 12 to 25 degrees Celsius in the Western Himalayan region. The maximum temperature in the states of eastern India remained four to six degrees Celsius above normal. Apart from this, heat to severe heat conditions persist in parts of Bengal, Bihar, Odisha etc.

The Meteorological Department estimates that the maximum temperature will decrease by three to five degrees Celsius in the states of eastern India in five days. Heat wave conditions will persist in Bengal and Odisha. There will be no major change in the maximum temperature of East-West India for three days and then there may be an increase of two to four degrees Celsius.

No major change is likely to occur in central India for five days. The states of western India will not see any significant change in temperature for the next two days. After this, the maximum temperature may rise up to three degrees Celsius. Western Himalayan region is likely to receive light to moderate rains. Rain may also fall in some areas of Uttarakhand.

As far as East-West India is concerned, an alert has been issued for three days of light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Apart from this, light rain is expected for five days in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh. Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha are likely to receive light rain for five days. Odisha will receive hail on 22-23 and Bihar on 24 April. On the other hand, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala may receive light rain for five days.
