New Delhi: Delhi-NCR will have partly cloudy skies today. Very light rain or drizzle is likely at one or two places in the evening or night. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), strong thunderstorms (wind speed 40-50 km per hour) may occur in some areas of Delhi-NCR today.
Due to this Thunderstorm and Rainfall, some relief is expected from the scorching heat. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius at many places in Delhi-NCR. While the minimum temperature can be 22 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD, West-UP is likely to experience thundershowers with rain or sprinkles at some places. Weather in East-UP is likely to remain dry. There is a high possibility of heat wave conditions occurring at different places in Uttar Pradesh today. Heat wave is expected to last in UP till April 19. After this, the state is expected to get some relief from the heat.
Along with this, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and isolated parts of Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to prevail today. Orange alert has been issued regarding heat in Bihar, Bengal and coastal Andhra-Pradesh.
The IMD has predicted heavy rain and snowfall at many places in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on April 18. While in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand there is a possibility of rain and lightning at some places (Hailstorm). Haryana, Chandigarh and West Rajasthan are also expected to experience lightning, strong gales (wind speed 40-50 kmph), and scattered showers at isolated places.
Scattered rain with lightning and gusty winds (wind speed 30-40 kmph) may occur at isolated places over East Rajasthan, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada. No significant weather activity is expected in the rest of the country. Orange alert has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab due to thunderstorm and hail.
