IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Delhi-NCR from 25-27 June

New Delhi: The condition of the people is miserable due to the heat. In the past days, due to the rains in the capital Delhi, the temperature dropped, but people are looking towards the sky with hope. No heat wave was recorded in Delhi this summer season. The Meteorological Department said that the heat wave is not expected to continue till the end of June.

According to IMD data, this is quite unusual. Because this has happened in Delhi after almost 12 years. Since 2011, the Safdarjung Observatory has always recorded at least one heatwave day in summer. But not even a single day has been recorded in this season so far. Also, the Meteorological Department said that there is no expectation of heatwave for the next few days. That is, this is the first summer without heat wave in Delhi since 2011.

According to IMD data, Delhi recorded 111 mm of rainfall in May, which is 262 per cent more than the long-term average of 30.7 mm. The city received over 20 mm of rainfall in April, the highest for the month since 2017.

The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rains over the next six to seven days, the intensity of which will peak between June 25 and June 27. That is, heavy rains can be seen on 25, 26 and 27 June. The maximum temperature during this period is expected to be around 35 degree Celsius. The weather office has not yet announced the date of arrival of monsoon in Delhi.

The weather agency has also it has issued a ‘yellow’ alert from June 25 to 27, which is a warning to ‘be aware’.

The minimum temperature settled one notch below normal at 27.4 degrees Celsius while the maximum is likely to touch 39 degrees Celsius in the city.

According to the weather agency, The national capital recorded 73 per cent relative humidity at around 8:30 am. The air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the moderate (102) category around 9 am, data from the SAFAR showed.

Mahesh Palawat, a meteorologist at private forecasting agency ‘Skymet Weather’, said the monsoon could reach Delhi on June 28-29. The IMD said on Friday that monsoon is likely to cover some more parts of Karnataka, Telangana, remaining parts of Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, parts of Chhattisgarh, remaining parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal, some more parts of Jharkhand and Bihar and some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. progressed in parts.
