IMD predicts light rain in North India, heatwave intensifies in THESE states

New Delhi: Light rain in North India is expected to bring respite from the scorching heat for the next three days, while the heat wave intensified in most parts of the country on Wednesday. For this reason, the northeastern state of Tripura had to declare ‘State Special Disaster’. Strong winds lashed the national capital on Wednesday morning and light rains during the day brought some respite to the people of Delhi, who have been facing heat wave-like conditions for the past several days.

According to the IMD, Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh and Baripada in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius.

Delhi weather update
The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 38 degree Celsius. For the last several days, the mercury was being recorded above 40 degree Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that “there may be a further drop in the maximum temperature by two to three degrees in the next two days”.

Heatwave prevails in West Bengal
The Meteorological Department said that for the last eight days, heat wave is going on in some areas of the Ganga plain of West Bengal. On the other hand, in Andhra Pradesh for the last six days, in Bihar for the last five days and in Punjab and Haryana for the last two days there is heat wave.

Torture of heat continues in Tripura
Tripura has been reeling under heat wave since last week and on Wednesday, the state declared a ‘state special calamity’ due to heatwave and urged people to take measures to avoid the wrath of the weather.

Mercury in Uttar Pradesh between 40 and 45 degrees
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius was recorded at many places in Uttar Pradesh. The maximum temperature in the state’s Hamirpur was recorded at 44.2 degree Celsius, followed by Kushinagar, Jhansi, Agra, Kanpur at 44.1 degree, 43.6 degree, 43.4 degree and 43 degree respectively. The Meteorological Department said that the weather is likely to remain dry in eastern Uttar Pradesh and light rain may occur in parts of western Uttar Pradesh.

Thunder storm in Rajasthan
Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning accompanied by dusty storm occurred in East Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has predicted that due to this, the maximum temperature in these areas is expected to drop by two to four degrees. Dust storm occurred in many parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur division of the state. The Meteorological Department said that there was a strong dust storm in Jaisalmer and Bikaner on Wednesday. People in Ajmer, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions also experienced dust storm.

Up to 19 mm of rain in Sriganganagar
Meanwhile, maximum rainfall of 19 mm was recorded in Suratgarh and Sriganganagar during the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has forecast that on Thursday in Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions, wind speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour may blow and light to moderate rain may occur.

Fresh snowfall in Himachal
There has been fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, while rain has been recorded in other parts. The Meteorological Department had issued a warning of heavy rain in the state on Wednesday. Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, and surrounding areas were covered with fog and the visibility was just a few meters in the morning. Due to this, a drop in the minimum temperature has been recorded in the entire state and Keylong in the tribal Lahaul Spiti district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.1 degree.
