New Delhi: Delhi-NCR is going to get relief from the scorching heat today. Today there is a possibility of partly cloudy sky and very light rain in the night. Rain, drizzle or showers are expected in Delhi for the next 4-5 days. IMD has expressed the possibility of rain at many places in Uttar Pradesh today. It may rain in UP as well for the next few days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi could go up to 43 degree Celsius before the rains. On May 22, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 43.7°C, which was 3°C above normal.
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Assam and Meghalaya on May 23. While heavy rains may occur at many places in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. According to IMD, today there is a possibility of rain with lightning, strong winds (speed of 30-40 kmph) and thunder at many places in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand and Odisha.
Rain with lightning very likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal today.
IMD has predicted hailstorm with lightning and storm (wind speed 50-60 kmph) at many places in Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and Sikkim. On the other hand, there is a possibility of thunderstorm or dust storm with lightning and strong winds (speed of 40-50 kmph) at different places in Rajasthan. IMD has expressed the possibility of heat wave in different areas of Jharkhand.
According to IMD, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to move over Northwest India from May 23 for the next 3 days. There is a possibility of thunderstorm with a speed of 50-60 kmph at different places in Uttarakhand on 24 and 25 May and in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on 24 May. The IMD has predicted heavy rains over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on May 23 and 24 and Punjab on May 24. Apart from this, there is a possibility of hailstorm on 24th May in Haryana and on 24th and 25th May in North Rajasthan.
