New Delhi: In the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 Super-4 round match played on Tuesday at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, India secured their final spot by easily smashing Sri Lanka by 41 runs. Sri Lanka restricted India to just 213 runs in the Super 4 encounter with youngster Dunith Wellalage dominating the game with five wickets, but the batsmen struggle to chase down the low score. Sri Lanka’s defeat also meant that their 13-match winning streak inevitably came to an end.

After a bad start, Kusal Mendis (15) also returned cheaply, while Kuldeep Yadav increased the troubles of the hosts by dismissing Lanka’s last match hero Sadira (17) cheaply. Charith Asalanka (22) and Dhananjay de Silva (41) made good efforts. Victory looked possible for Sri Lanka even when it lost 5 wickets at 73.

Dunit Wellalage (42), who took five wickets in the lower order bowling, showed at the end why he is being called a big superstar of the future, but at the other end, Jadeja and Kuldeep did not let the tail-enders breathe a sigh of relief.
