INDIA Bloc Leaders Gather for AAP’s “Save Democracy” Rally in Delhi Today

New Delhi : In a show of solidarity, senior leaders from the INDIA bloc are set to converge at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today for the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) “loktantra bachao” (save democracy) rally. This event comes in the wake of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case.

Expected Turnout and Administration Preparations:

Despite the administration’s allowance for 20,000 attendees, the Delhi Police anticipates the crowd to swell beyond 30,000. The AAP, however, projects a gathering of up to one lakh, which would fill Ramlila Maidan to its capacity.

National Leaders in Attendance

The rally will witness the presence of key figures from various political parties. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and possibly Sonia Gandhi are slated to attend. Additionally, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Tejashwi Yadav from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Sharad Pawar, president of the Nationalist Congress Party, will grace the occasion. Uddhav Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), will also be in attendance.

INDIA Bloc Representation:

Notably, members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will play a significant role in the rally. Figures such as Derek O’Brien from the Trinamool Congress, Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference, and Mehbooba Mufti, the chief of the PDP, will join. Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI general secretary D Raja, and DMK’s Tiruchi Siva are among those expected to participate.

Regional Representation:

From Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann along with cabinet ministers and AAP MLAs will add to the regional representation at the event. Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will also be present, having recently met with Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Arvind Kejriwal.

Traffic Advisory Issued:

As the rally gathers momentum, the Delhi Police issues a traffic advisory, warning of regulated movement and possible restrictions in key areas from 9 am to 3 pm. Commuters heading towards ISBT, railway stations, or the airport are advised .
