With this victory, Team India remains the only unbeaten team in the ongoing tournament. India had last won against New Zealand in the ODI World Cup in 2003, after that this is the team’s first win. Chasing a challenging total of 274, India won the contest by four wickets, with Virat Kohli (95) once again anchoring a tricky chase which seemingly helped avenge the agonizing loss suffered in the semifinal match on the same stage, four years ago.

Chasing the target of 274 runs set by New Zealand, the Indian team got a fast start by the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both added 71 runs for the first wicket. But after this India got its first blow in the form of Rohit Sharma. Rohit was out after scoring 46 runs. After this Gill left after scoring 26 runs. For India, Shreyas Iyer scored 33 runs and KL Rahul scored 27 runs. While Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring 39 runs.

At the same time, after losing the toss and batting first, New Zealand scored 273 runs in 50 overs on the basis of Daryl Mitchell’s century and gave Team India a target of 274 runs to win. New Zealand, who came to bat first, had a bad start in this match and the team lost its first wicket at the score of 9.

After this the team got the second blow on the score of 19. After the initial two setbacks, New Zealand was made a comeback by the pair of Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra. Both of them made a record partnership of 159 runs for the third wicket. During this, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell completed their respective fifties.

In this match for New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell scored 130 runs on 127 balls, while Rachin Ravindra scored 75 runs on 87 balls. Apart from these two, no other batsman could show any special feat.
