The first match of the ODI series between India and Australia was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After winning the Test series 2-1, the Indian team has also come out to win the ODI series. Batting first, Australia had set a target of 189 runs in front of India. India achieved this target in 39.5 overs.
India’s bowlers also performed amazingly. Mohammed Shami and Siraj got 3-3 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja also got 2 wickets. Apart from these, Kuldeep and Hardik Pandya also got success in getting 1-1 wickets.
In this victory, KL Rahul’s 13th Fifty and an unbeaten century partnership of 108 runs with Jadeja contributed significantly. Ravindra Jadeja, who performed all-round, was the man of the match. He scored an unbeaten 45*. Took two wickets and took a brilliant catch.Chasing the target of 189 runs, the top order of the Indian team could not perform anything special. At one stage the team had lost three wickets for 39 runs. Here Ishan Kishan 3, Virat Kohli 4 and Suryakumar Yadav were dismissed for 0 runs. In such a situation, KL Rahul (75 not out), captain Hardik Pandya (25 runs) and Ravindra Jadeja (45 not out) came to play in the middle order to sail the team. Rahul first added 44 runs on 55 balls with Pandya. Then shared 108* runs on 122 balls with Jadeja and completed the remaining work.
Hardik Pandya,India captain: We were under pressure both the times . We kept our composure and found ways to come out of those situations. Once we got the momentum towards us, we were quite on top of the game. I am really proud of the way we caught today.
Ravindra Jadeja , Player of the Match: I’m playing ODI cricket after 8 months so I was just looking to adapt to the format as soon as possible. Luckily with the ball, I got a few wickets. When I went to bat, I was looking to build a partnership with KL Rahul.
Steve Smith,Australia Captain: This is not verbatim: “We weren’t expecting this when we rocked up here. India bowled well this morning, but we probably left a few out there. Had we got 250, we would have had some match. Mitch started really well.
