IPL 2023: Australia cricketer David Warner will lead the team during the upcoming season of IPL

New Delhi: After the injury of Rishabh Pant, there was only one question in the mind of the fans that in the end, who will captain the Delhi Capitals in IPL instead of Pant, but now the fans have got the answer to this question. This season, none other than David Warner is going to captain the IPL. The Delhi team has officially announced about this. At the same time, Akshar Patel has been appointed as the vice-captain.

Team coach Ricky Ponting and the team management have finally handed over the captaincy of Delhi Capitals to Warner instead of Pant for this season. Please tell that Pant was injured in a car accident, due to which he had to stay away from cricket. Pant will not be a part of IPL this season due to injury. By the way, now Pant’s condition is improving. On March 15, Pant shared a video on his Insta where he was seen walking in the swimming pool.

For the past several days, speculations were being made about David Warner becoming the captain. Team director Sourav Ganguly had also indicated that Warner should be made the captain. After getting the captaincy of Delhi Capitals, Warner said, “Pant has been an excellent leader for Delhi. We will miss Pant’s contribution. I am thankful to the management for showing confidence in me. For me, the team of young players is the leader.” It’s a matter of pride to do.”

This is not the first time that David Warner will take charge of Delhi. This will be his second captaincy tenure in Delhi. He captained the team during his time with the then Delhi Daredevils between 2009 and 2013. After this, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him. And a year later he was made captain. In 2016, Warner took Sunrisers to the title.

Warner has so far captained a total of 69 matches in the history of IPL, in which the teams under his captaincy have won 35 matches and lost 33 matches. That is, the winning percentage of any team under his captaincy is above 50. Now it has to be seen what he can do for Delhi in IPL 2023.
