In a bid to enhance passenger convenience, IRCTC has rolled out nearly 150 affordable meal and snack counters at over 100 railway stations nationwide. These counters, strategically positioned near General Second Class (GS) coaches on platforms, aim to provide passengers with accessible and economical refreshment options.
As part of an Indian Railways initiative, these counters offer two main options
Economy Meals: Priced at just ₹ 20, these meals provide passengers with a satisfying and hygienic food choice.
Snack Meals: For those seeking lighter options, snacks are available at ₹ 50, ensuring both safety and hygiene.
Sumit Thakur, the chief public relations officer of Western Railway, emphasized that this initiative is a proactive step to address the increased passenger traffic during the summer months, particularly in unreserved coaches.
This expansion follows the successful launch of the ‘affordable meal counter’ at 51 stations in 2023, demonstrating Indian Railways’ commitment to providing affordable and convenient refreshments to railway passengers across the country.
