In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has successfully dismantled an ISIS module operating within Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Two individuals, identified as Faraz Ahmed and Abdul Samad Malik, both students of AMU, have been apprehended for their alleged involvement in planning a major terrorist attack.

UP ATS busts ISIS module in Aligarh Muslim University. The arrests follow a thorough investigation initiated by the ATS in November last year, based on intelligence inputs signaling illegal activities and anti-national plans associated with ISIS. Amas alias Faraz Ahmed, who was evading arrest since November 3 when his associates were detained, was captured in Aligarh on Monday. Abdul Samad Malik had already surrendered before the court, carrying a reward for his apprehension.

UP ATS arrests two students planning major terror attack. The ATS’s action comes after receiving information about individuals affiliated with ISIS engaged in anti-national activities. On November 3, 2023, seven people, including Abdullah Arsalan, Maaz Bin Tariq, and Wajihuddin, were arrested in connection with the case. The ATS registered a case under IPC 13/23, Section 121A/122 IPC, 13/18/18V/38 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

ISIS module unearthed at AMU. Both Amas Ahmed and Abdul Samad Malik, identified as students of AMU, were reportedly planning a major terrorist attack as supporters of ISIS. Amas Ahmed, a psychology graduate from AMU in 2022, had appeared for the MBA entrance exam in 2023. Abdul Samad Malik was pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) at AMU.

The arrested suspects will be presented in court following the established procedures, and further legal action will be taken against them. The discovery of an ISIS module within the university highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to ensure national security and prevent terrorist activities.
