A special court in Ranchi granted permission for Hemant Soren, the Executive President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), to participate in the trust vote.

The Enforcement Directorate has accused Hemant Soren of involvement in a ₹600-crore land scam and money laundering related to its proceeds. The alleged scam involves a large-scale racket manipulating the ownership of government land and selling it to builders.
Hemant Soren contends that he is a victim of a vast conspiracy, asserting, “The BJP conspiracy against him has succeeded for a while. But our government has a majority and will continue,” as stated by state minister Mithilesh Thakur.
