Kanpur: In a horrifying incident that shook Kanpur, 23-year-old MCA student Ayush Dwivedi faced inhumane treatment at the hands of a group of men, including a head constable, Dharmendra Yadav. This barbaric attack took place in Cooperganj area, where horrific incidents of violence took place on Dwivedi, which spread anger among the people and raised questions on law and order in the area.

police personnel and about a dozen other men allegedly thrashed a student, fired a bullet to scare him and urinated on his face one by one in Kanpur.

According to sources, this horrific case of brutality was an act of revenge, linked to the attempt to murder case registered against Dwivedi in October last year. The complainant in that case was none other than the head constable Dharmendra Yadav who was involved in the fight.

The victim was abducted, assaulted and forced to endure acts contrary to human dignity. He was shot in such a way that the bullet passed through the lower part of his ear, causing severe injury. In a shocking display of cruelty, Dwivedi was reportedly forced to drink urine and lick spit from the slippers of his attackers, adding to his humiliation.

In response to this brutal incident, the police acted promptly and arrested three people involved in the attack, including Yadav, Ayush Mishra and Nandu Dubey. Yadav has been suspended from his post in the police force and faces both legal and departmental action for his involvement in the attack.

The incident reportedly started when Dwivedi and one of his friends decided to meet a girl with whom they had connected on Instagram, following which the assailants ambushed them. In view of this incident, several teams have been deployed to nab the attackers, who are still absconding.

This horrific incident in Kanpur underlines the urgent need for a thorough review of law enforcement practices and to put an end to such acts of violence and humiliation that are an affront to human dignity. With the culprits facing the law, it is hoped that justice will be served swiftly and such incidents will be prevented in future.
