Lucknow: Official said that a man from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife and two children on Sunday. The wife was 25-year-old and children aged six and three. The accused was identified as Ram Lakhan. After receiving information about this incident local police reached on the spot.
He was a resident of Lucknow’s Sarwan Nagar area, stuffed the dead bodies of his wife and children in a sack and kept them in the house for two days. According to the police, the accused was caught when the house owner visited him and saw the body in one of the rooms of the house.
The DCP (South) Swaroop Singh said that during interrogation, Lakhan said that keeping their dead bodies at home gave him solace as his family was sleeping next to him. On Sunday when the house owner reached the house, he found a foul smelling emanating from the house.
The house owner started to check around the house and reached one of the rooms on the first floor, police said. Through an open window, he peeped inside the room. Jyoti’s body lay on the floor of the room. He immediately informed the police about the body. Ram Lakhan allegedly killed his family members on March 28 after he suspected his wife had an extramarital affair.
Later, Ram Lakhan was arrested in Sohramau after police traced his location using his phone number. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and it is only after the results come that it can be said with certainty how exactly were the trio murdered. The police have also informed other family members of the deceased about the deaths. Officials said that the bodies will be handed over once all legal proceedings are complete.
