Mumbai: Mumbai cops unearthed a murder case and apprehended a 62-year-old man wanted in a murder case after 31 years from Nalasopara area in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, sources reported, citing an official. According to sources, the accused has been identified as Deepak Bhise. He is accused of killing Raju Chikna in 1989 and for murder bid on another person, Dharmendra Saroj.

Mumbai Police has arrested the accused from Nalasopara area of Palghar district. The police officer informed that Bhise had got bail in 1992 but he never appeared in the court for the hearing of the case. The officer said on Saturday that in 2003 the court had declared him absconding.

“Whenever the police visited Bhise’s residential address at Tulaskarwadi in suburban Kandivali, locals would tell us he might have died, but we kept looking for him,” he was quoted as saying by sources.

The police, during the search, managed to get the mobile phone number of Bhise’s wife and tracked him down to Nalasopara from where he was nabbed on Friday night, he said.

62 years old Bhise settled in the locality with his family and used to take contracts for cutting trees, sources reported, citing the official.
