Maharashtra: Uddhav Sena leader Abhishek Ghosalkar shot dead during Facebook Live, attacker kills self

Mumbai: In a shocking incident, Uddhav Sena leader Abhishek Ghosalkar, son of Shivsena (UBT) leader Vinod Ghosalkar and a former corporator was shot dead in Mumbai allegedly over personal enmity.

According to information, three to four rounds of firing took place. After the incident, Ghoshalkar was immediately taken to Karuna Hospital in Borivali West where he succumbed to his injuries.

Abhishek Ghosalkar was doing a Facebook livestream with one Mauris Noronha, also known as Mauris Bhai. Mauris Noronha leaves the livestream and later shot thrice at Ghosalkar. After this, Mauris Bhai shot himself dead, police said. The accused was known as “Mauriss Bhai” and described himself as a “social worker.” Notably, workers of the Uddhav Sena faction gathered outside the hospital and demanded strict action against the culprits.

After the incident, a police team has reached the spot and the matter is being investigated. According to preliminary information, Mauris Noronha was a resident of Borivali West and claimed to be a social worker who had aspirations to contest elections. He had shared multiple pictures with politicians on his social media handles.

According to police, Abhishek Ghosalkar and Mauris Noronha had offices adjacent to each other. This is the second such incident in the month of January. Earlier, BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad allegedly opened fire at Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad at Hill Line Police Station in Ulhasnagar, triggering sharp reactions from the opposition leaders. The BJP MLA is currently in judicial custody.
