Pilibhit: In a distressing incident, a man reportedly consumed poison outside the residence of the Superintendent of Police on Saturday, citing alleged police negligence in filing a harassment case against his wife. The matter is currently under investigation, according to police sources.
The family members of the man revealed that his wife had recently lodged a complaint of domestic violence against him. However, their claim suggests that the police did not address his counter-complaint regarding harassment by his wife. The complex situation has prompted a closer examination of the circumstances surrounding the marital discord.
Pradeep and Isha, married for just two months, found themselves entangled in a dispute involving financial demands. Allegedly, Isha sought ₹5 lakh from Pradeep. Frustrated by what he perceived as police inaction, Pradeep attempted to file a complaint against his wife at the Superintendent of Police’s office. Failing to find the officer, he resorted to the extreme step of consuming poison outside the SP’s residence.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Atul Sharma acknowledged the incident, stating, “Pradeep, a resident of Sungarhi police station area, consumed poison. He was promptly taken to a hospital by the staff, and the matter is currently under thorough investigation.
