New Delhi: On Tuesday, an official said that a Maharashtra minibus driver was shot at during a robbery attempt but he continued driving the bus for 30 kilometers on the Amravati-Nagpur highway to save the passengers in the vehicle. After receiving information about this incident local police reached the on spot.
Officers further said that the incident occurred on National Highway 6 when the driver was traveling from Amravati towards Nagpur after visiting a temple along with 17 family members. Police have formed four teams to search for the accused.
According to driver Khomdev Kawade, the robbers were in the car and tried to stop them by firing at the minibus. He said he suffered injuries on his hand, but did not stop the minibus and took it to the police station about 30 kilometers later.
The police said that three other passengers were also injured and admitted to a hospital in Tivas. He added that the robbers were in a Bolero SUV which had Uttar Pradesh registration number.
Mr Kawade said, “While coming from Amravati, there was a car behind us, a Bolero, and it kept following us. I don’t remember the exact registration number, but it was from UP.”
He added,“I gave them space to move forward twice but they did not move forward.” Mr Kawade also said, “After some time, they fired at me. The first time, they missed, but the second time it hit my hand.” He added that the incident happened near Nandgaon Peth.
