New Delhi: ‘Operation Kaveri’ is being run by the Central Government to evacuate Indians trapped in Sudan. Sources tweeted on Wednesday that the third batch of 135 Indians from Port Sudan reached Jeddah by IAF C-130J aircraft. Union Minister V Muraleedharan tweeted, “For all those who have reached Jeddah, onward journey to India will begin soon.”
Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan received the second batch of 148 evacuated Indians. Explain that the first IAF C-130 aircraft with 121 passengers arrived at Jeddah airport on Wednesday. Earlier, naval ship INS Sumedha reached Jeddah port with 278 passengers.
The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted, “#OperationKaveri is in full swing. A second IAF C-130J flight took off from Port Sudan for Jeddah, carrying 135 more passengers. This is the third batch of people evacuated under Operation Cauvery.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs tweeted that 121 passengers left from the IAF C-130J aircraft. However, MoS MEA later tweeted that 148 Indians were evacuated in the second batch.

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan tweeted, “The first IAF C-130J aircraft carrying 148 Indians arrived in Jeddah under #OperationKaveri from Port Sudan.”
Operation Kaveri information was given on Monday
As fighting intensified between the Sudanese army and paramilitary groups in the capital Khartoum, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday informed that its ‘Operation Kaveri’ is underway to evacuate its nationals from war-torn Sudan and around 500 Indians have reached Port Sudan.
Indian Navy’s INS Teg on Tuesday joined the ongoing ‘Operation Kaveri’ to evacuate Indians stranded in Sudan. Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi tweeted on Tuesday, “INS Teg joins #OperationKaveri. Reached Port Sudan with additional officers and necessary relief material for the stranded Indians.
Let us tell you that the warring groups in Sudan agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire on Monday after mediation from the US and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, many countries are busy evacuating their citizens from the conflict-ridden Sudan.
