PM Modi Hints at Shivraj Chouhan’s Cabinet Inclusion if He Wins Vidisha Lok Sabha Seat

In a recent rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted at the possibility of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan joining the Union Cabinet if he emerges victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Vidisha. Known as a BJP stronghold, Vidisha holds significance in Chouhan’s political journey, having won it five times previously.

During a rally in Harda, MP, PM Modi emphasized his desire to “take him along” and highlighted their past collaborations when both served as Chief Ministers. Chouhan, replaced by Mohan Yadav as MP CM, is set to contest from Vidisha, a constituency historically associated with BJP luminaries like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Sushma Swaraj.

Chouhan’s presence at the rally alongside PM Modi further fueled speculation about his political trajectory. PM Modi’s endorsement of Chouhan as a ‘partner’ and his reference to their shared work experience signal a potential Cabinet role for Chouhan.

Vidisha, slated for polls on May 7, witnesses Chouhan facing off against Congress’ Pratap Bhanu Sharma. With BJP’s stronghold status and Chouhan’s formidable reputation, many anticipate a one-sided contest.

Chouhan’s tenure as MP CM, marked by welfare schemes like ‘Ladli Behna’, earned him the moniker ‘Mama’ in the state. Despite his replacement, Chouhan remains a pivotal figure in MP politics, as evident from his nomination from Vidisha.

Speculation over Chouhan’s future intensified post his CM replacement. However, with PM Modi’s recent nod, Chouhan’s return to national politics seems increasingly plausible, promising to add depth to the Union Cabinet’s leadership.
