Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep on January 2 and 3, where he will unveil and lay the foundation stone for several crucial development projects. The visit will commence with the Prime Minister serving as the chief guest at the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Key Projects in Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. In Tiruchirappalli, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects, collectively valued at over ₹19,850 crore, spanning aviation, rail, road, oil and gas, shipping, and higher education sectors. Additionally, he will inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli International Airport, developed at a cost exceeding ₹1,100 crore, enhancing its capacity to serve over 44 lakh passengers annually.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate various railway projects, including the doubling of the rail line section from Madurai to Tuticorin, contributing to improved rail capacity for freight and passenger transportation. Furthermore, PM Modi will inaugurate five road sector projects, enhancing connectivity to industrial and commercial centers in the region.

PM Modi To Visit Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep On January 2-3. In Lakshadweep, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects valued at over ₹1,150 crore. Notably, the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) project will be inaugurated, substantially increasing internet speed for the islanders. This marks the first-ever connection of Lakshadweep through Submarine Optic Fiber Cable, ensuring a significant leap in communication infrastructure.

The Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination plant at Kadmat, capable of producing 1.5 lakh liters of clean drinking water daily, will also be dedicated to the nation. Furthermore, PM Modi will unveil the Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) in all households of Agatti and Minicoy islands, emphasizing the government’s commitment to water supply.

Other projects to be inaugurated include the solar power plant at Kavaratti, the first-ever battery-backed solar power project in Lakshadweep, and the new administrative block and 80 Men barracks in the India Reserve Battalion Complex at Kavaratti.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the government’s dedication to advancing infrastructure, connectivity, and quality of life across diverse regions of the country.
