Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court today, marking the 75th year since its establishment. The event will witness the launch of citizen-centric technology initiatives, including Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi-SCR), Digital Courts 2.0, and a revamped bilingual website for the apex court.
Digi-SCR is a revolutionary initiative making all 519 volumes of Supreme Court reports since 1950 available in a digital, user-friendly format, allowing open access to citizens. The platform covers 36,308 cases, offering a comprehensive resource for legal reference.
Under the e-Courts project, Digital Courts 2.0 is introduced to provide judges of district courts with electronic access to court records. This innovative application incorporates artificial intelligence for real-time speech-to-text transcription, enhancing efficiency and accessibility.
PM Modi will unveil the new bilingual website of the Supreme Court, featuring English and Hindi languages. The redesigned website boasts a user-friendly interface, aiming to provide a seamless experience for citizens seeking legal information.
Following the tech launches, a Ceremonial Bench sitting will take place in the Chief Justice Court at 3:30 pm. Presided by the Chief Justice of India, this occasion will be attended by chief justices of high courts and former Supreme Court judges. The event will also feature addresses by the Chief Justice of India, the Attorney General for India, and the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
