PM Modi to launch series of major infrastructure projects worth ₹68,400 crore in Odisha

In a bid to strengthen the energy security of the country, the prime minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects aimed at boosting the sector at a public programme in Sambalpur in Odisha, his office said in a statement.

Bhubaneshwar: As anticipation grows for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur district, Odisha today.

In a bid to strengthen the energy security of the country, the prime minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects aimed at boosting the sector at a public programme in Sambalpur in Odisha, his office said in a statement.

Here is a list of mjaor projects launched by PM Modi today in Odisha
Dhamra–Angul Pipeline: Among the projects, PM Modi will open 412 Km of ‘Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL)’. The project is built at a cost of over Rs 2,450 crore under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’. This project will connect Odisha with the National Gas Grid.

Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline : Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the ‘Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section’ of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda pipeline which is approximately 632 kilometres. The project has been built at a cost of more than Rs 2,660 crore. This is expected to improve the availability of natural gas in states like Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

NLC Talabira Thermal power project: The PM will also lay the foundation stone of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Talabira Thermal Power Project, which is expected to cost over Rs 27,000 crore. Its aim is to promote PM Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India. The project will provide reliable, affordable and round-the-clock power, contributing to the energy security of the country.

Mahanadi Coalfields project: PM Modi will also open infrastructure projects of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. These include First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects like Bhubaneswari Phase-I in Talcher Coalfields in Angul district and Lajkura Rapid Loading System (RLS). The projects are built at a cost of about Rs 2,145 crore. The projects are aimed at boosting the quality and supply of dry fuel from Odisha.

Apart from other projects, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several power projects worth about Rs 28,980 crore. These projects include NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) and NSPCL Rourkela PP-II Expansion Project (1×250 MW) in Sundergarh district of Odisha. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2×660 MW) in Angul district of Odisha.
