Mumbai: On Sunday, A complaint has been filed against Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s daughter, Suranya Aiyar for her post on social media on condemning the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. As per Ajay Agrawal, the complainant and Supreme Court Lawyer, Suranya Aiyar had made objectionable comments between January 20 and other dates.

According to the information, the complaint was filed on Saturday by Supreme Court advocate and BJP leader, Ajay Agarwal, at Delhi’s Cyber Crime Police station. On January 20, Sharing a video clip that she allegedly uploaded, Agrawal urged the Delhi Police to take action in this regard.

Agarwal alleged that Suranya Aiyar made “objectionable remarks” on different social media platforms on January 20, against the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the temple. He said in his complaint to Delhi Police on Saturday,“Ms Suranya Aiyar has posted a seriously objectionable statement on Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms on January 20, 2024, and other dates.“

He added,”Please go through this entire clip and register an FIR under section 153-A (for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and other sections of IPC and other acts as you deem appropriate after watching the 36-minute video.”

Suranya Aiyar had written on Facebook On January 19, she would be observing a fast for three days, starting from January 22, in support for the “Muslims of India” against what she called was being done “in the name of Hinduism and nationalism in Ayodhya”. Suranya’s post triggered a controversy which led the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Delhi’s Jangpura writing a detailed letter to Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, and his daughter asking them to move out of the colony, for disturbing peace and harmony.

It said,“In case you still think, what you have done in protesting against the consecration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, we would suggest you kindly move out to another colony, where people and RWA’s can turn (a) blind eye to such hatred.”

In her response to RWA’s letter, she said, “I think that all of us in India deserve a better kind of conversation and a better kind of engagement. I think that we are better than this. Of course, we will disagree. I expressed the reasons for my disagreement in my speech earlier. And I made a spiritual presentation of my pain about this by fasting peacefully in my home.” The RWA had asked the senior Congress leader to condemn his daughter’s statements, saying “this is not good for the colony and the entire society.”
