Prayagraj: In a distressing turn of events in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a woman’s tragic death by suicide has resulted in further fatalities as her family allegedly set fire to her in-laws’ house, claiming the lives of her parents-in-law.

Allegations of Dowry Harassment

Anshika Kesarwani, the deceased, was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence late on Monday night. Married just last February, her untimely demise sparked immediate turmoil as her relatives accused her in-laws of subjecting her to dowry harassment, purportedly driving her to take her own life.

Escalation of Tensions

Soon after news of Anshika’s death spread, her family members reportedly rushed to her in-laws’ house, engaging in a heated altercation. Matters took a tragic turn when the confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in the setting ablaze of the residence.

Police Response

Prayagraj City Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepak Bhuker, stated that upon receiving a distress call at 11 pm regarding the woman’s suicide, law enforcement officials promptly arrived at the scene. However, they were met with a chaotic scene of familial discord and physical confrontation.

Fatal Outcome,Investigation Ongoing

As the flames ravaged the residence, the efforts of firefighters eventually quelled the blaze. Tragically, the search of the premises revealed the lifeless bodies of two individuals, identified as Rajendra Kesarwani and Shobha Devi, the deceased woman’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, respectively.

Amidst the aftermath of this harrowing incident, authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Anshika’s suicide and the subsequent arson attack.
