West Bengal: On Friday morning A Probe Agency Enforcement Directorate team conducted searches at various locations including the house of two ministers of West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee government in connection with the municipal job scam case in West Bengal that allegedly took place in several civic bodies between 2014 and 2018.
According to the details, One team of ED has reached two premises of fire services minister Sujit Bose while another team was searched the one premise of minister Tapas Roy. Not only this, apart from these two ministers, ED raids were also searched at the house of the former vice president of the municipality.
According to the police report, the searches began at nearly 6.40 am today. Earlier, the ED team had recently reached the house of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal in the case of ration scam. During this, a mob of villagers attacked the team. In April 2023, the Calcutta High Court had directed the CBI to probe the irregularities in the recruitment of municipalities.
Both the investigating agencies – ED and CBI are probing irregularities in the recruitments done by the civic bodies. The CBI raided 16 locations on June 7,2023 and seized documents from several civic bodies in Nadia, Hooghly and North 24 Parganas districts and Salt Lake Municipality .
