Pune: In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old man fired at and injured a jewellery shop owner over a dispute outside a hotel in Pune city on Saturday in the evening hours before shooting himself dead in an autorickshaw, police said. A financial dispute is the prima facie trigger behind the incident which occurred in Aundh area.
Financial dispute triggers firing
Investigations unveiled that the firing occurred due to a financial dispute between the 2 men. The shooting occurred in the Anudh region of the city and the injured as Aakash Jadhav (39), a police officer said. The deceased has been identified as Anil Dhamale.
The injured person who is now in hospital is Aakash Jadhav. Dhamale used to work at the jewellery store owned by Jadhav. He had been working there for the past several years.
On Saturday evening, Dhamale took Jadhav for coffee. As the 2 sat at the hotel, enjoying the beverage, Dhamale took out a pistol and shot at Jadhav from point blank range. He fled the place, leaving the injured man at the coffee shop.
While fleeing in an autorickshaw, Dhamale took out the same pistol and at point blank shot himself dead. This happened near Aundh Chowk in the city. Meanwhile an injured Jadhav was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the entire matter. The case has been filed at the Chatushrungi police station.
