Punjab: Pakistani drone with drugs recovers near India-Pakistan international border in Gurdaspur

4 Packets of heroin have been recovered during the search operation. The drone that has been shot down can fly up to 15 km.

Punjab: Pakistani drone with drugs recovers near India-Pakistan international border in Gurdaspur

Chandigarh: BSF has recovered a Pakistani drone in Gurdaspur, Punjab. Along with this, suspected heroin has been found in the hands of the jawans. In its statement, BSF said that at around 9:15 am, a drone and suspected heroin material was recovered near the International Border.

Drone and drugs seized near India-Pakistan international border
The Border Security Force on Sunday recovered a drone and heroin near the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur. In a statement, the BSF said, “At around 9:15 am, the ZLP party successfully recovered a drone and material suspected to be heroin between the border fence and the international border. More details are awaited in this regard.”

BSF’s 113 Battalion in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district had shot down a Pakistani drone late on Saturday night at Border Out Post (BOP) Ghani ke Bangar. A search operation was carried out by BSF and police at the place where the drone fell.

Drone can fly by lifting weight up to 9 kg
The drone from Pakistan is made of China, which can fly by lifting a weight of up to 9 kg. The recovery comes a day after the BSF seized 20 packets of heroin and a consignment of arms and ammunition following an encounter with Pakistani smugglers along the international border.

DIG Prabhakar Joshi told that 4 packets of heroin have been recovered during the search operation. The drone which has been shot down can fly up to 15 kilometers by picking up to 9 kg of heroin.

Pakistani drone was shot down by BSF
Earlier in the firing, the 113 battalion of BSF shot down a Pakistani drone which came late on Saturday night at the Border Out Post (BOP) in Bangar, Ghania. BSF Deputy Inspector General Prabhakar Joshi told reporters in Gurdaspur that some suspicious movement was noticed by BSF constable Hemram while patrolling in dense fog at 5:30 am.

When they challenged the smugglers, they started firing from Pakistan side. Our jawans also fired in response. After an encounter with the smugglers, 20 packets of heroin and a cache of arms and cartridges were recovered.
