Bikaner: A horrific video doing rounds on the internet in which it can be seen that Instagram influencer Anamika Bishnoi, with over 100,000 followers, is being shot dead by her husband in Rajasthan’s Phalodi. The incident clearly captured on the CCTV camera installed in the office highlights not only Bishnoi’s personal tragedy, but also the broader social issues of dowry disputes and domestic violence in India.

Alleged video shows that the husband fires a bullet on his wife at a point blank range. The woman is seen suffering fatal injury on her neck in the attack and it is being claimed that she lost her life due to the bullet injury.

Several report claims that the woman stayed separately from her husband. It is being said that the woman is an Instagram influencer and has over one lakh followers on her social media account. The woman has been identified as Anamika Bishnoi and her Instagram account has more than one lakh followers.

Her husband has been recognised as Mahiram. The occurrence reportedly occurred on Sunday (February 25) when the woman sitting inside her officer. She used to run a Women’s Collection Center in Phalodi in Rajasthan.

What is disturbing is that Mahiram’s attempts to fire the weapon again were thwarted only by a malfunction, following which he fled the scene. This act of violence was not an isolated incident, but was reportedly the culmination of ongoing tensions related to dowry demands, a practice that is illegal in India but is still prevalent in various parts of the country.

People of Phalodi and Bishnoi communities are in shock after the firing. Anamika Bishnoi, known for her vibrant presence on social media, was mourned by a large number of viewers and her last rites will be held at Nagarsar in Bikaner.

The local police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the murder, probing the possible motives behind Mahiram’s actions with a special focus on the alleged dowry dispute. The incident highlights the deep underlying currents of the dowry system that, despite legal prohibitions, continues to haunt Indian society, often with fatal consequences.
