Rajya Sabha proceedings adjourned till March 13, opposition MPs created ruckus

New Delhi: Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the Rajya Sabha till March 13 amid uproar and sloganeering by opposition MPs on the Adani issue. According to the information, the Speaker adjourned the Rajya Sabha till 11 am on March 13. The second part of the budget session will begin on March 13, 2023.

As soon as the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha started on Monday, February 13, the opposition MPs started creating ruckus. After this, the Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings of the House. During this, slogans were raised on the opposition MPs regarding PM Modi. Opposition MPs stuck to their demand for setting up of a JPC to probe the allegations against the Adani issue.

Seeing the uproar in the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said that the proceedings of the House were not being allowed to go on deliberately. Because this is not the way to run the house. We’ve already wasted enough time. He told Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge that you are alleging that the President is working under pressure. He said that your allegations are absolutely false. You are violating your rights to remain on the floor of the House.

Let us inform that the Rajya Sabha proceedings started at 11.50 am after being adjourned once, but the uproar by the opposition MPs continued inside the House. The opposition demanded setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the matter related to Adani Group and withdrawal of suspension of MP Rajni Patel.

After which the opposition MPs started raising slogans against the government demanding JPC. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar appealed to the opposition MPs who were creating ruckus to allow the Parliament to function continuously. Seeing no effect of his appeal, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha till March 13.
