In a tragic incident at DRDO’s Radar Observatory Air Surveillance unit in Kendrapara district, Odisha, a 35-year-old army jawan, Sepoy Raj Sekharan, reportedly took his own life with his service rifle. The unfortunate event unfolded during the soldier’s duty at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility in Kiyarbanka village around 2 am on Sunday.
Sepoy Raj Sekharan was discovered in a critical condition, lying in a pool of blood. Swiftly responding to the situation, he was rushed to a nearby government-run hospital. Despite the prompt efforts, he was declared brought dead, according to a statement by a police officer.
While preliminary findings point towards a suicide, Inspector Bimal Kumar Mallik from Mahalakpada police station emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway. The soldier’s service rifle, implicated in the incident, has been seized and sent for examination as part of the ongoing probe.
