The Congress party has unveiled its official list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with Sonia Gandhi nominated from Rajasthan and Abhishek Manu Singhvi chosen to represent Himachal Pradesh.

The Congress party has unveiled its official list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with Sonia Gandhi nominated from Rajasthan and Abhishek Manu Singhvi chosen to represent Himachal Pradesh. The party has also put forth Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh for Bihar, and Chandrakant Handore for Maharashtra. Ajay Maken is set to be the Congress candidate from Karnataka.

Congress Releases Official Rajya Sabha Nomination List. Chandrakant Handore, who lost the election for Legislative Council, is recognized as a dedicated AICC member and a prominent Dalit face, having previously served as the Social Justice Minister.

Renuka Chowdhury and Anil Yadav have been nominated as Congress candidates from Telangana, according to party sources.

The Election Commission announced that the biennial Rajya Sabha polls are scheduled for February 27, with 56 seats up for grabs as the term of incumbents, including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP president J P Nadda, concludes in April. Among the retiring members are nine Union ministers, including Ashwini Vaishnaw, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav, and Mansukh Mandaviya.

Rajya Sabha Nomination List, Sonia Gandhi from Rajasthan. The nomination process will commence on February 8 with the issuance of the notification, concluding on February 15. The last date for withdrawing candidature is February 20. Voting is scheduled from 9 am to 4 pm on the election day, with counting to follow from 5 pm onwards. While 50 members will retire on April 2, an additional six will do so on April 3, as per the Election Commission’s announcement.
