Srinagar: NIA conducts raids at nine locations in case linked to terror activities

Jammu and Kashmir: On Monday, officials said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids in a case linked to terror activities at nine locations in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. They added that the NIA sleuths carried out the raids along with police and CRPF.

On Monday morning, the raids are being carried out in collaboration with security forces at various locations linked to individuals linked to terrorism under a case registered by the agency in 2022. Acting on specific information received about some suspects living in Srinagar, the anti-terror agency launched the search.

Nearly a month after the NIA filed a chargesheet against two accused in the Kokernag (Jammu and Kashmir) encounter case, the search operation was carried out. Sources said the suspects in the case are linked to The Resistant Front (TRF), a branch of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Both LeT and TRF are banned organisations and have been continuously involved in instigating and motivating Kashmiri youth to join terror outfits in the name of ‘jihad’. Both the organisations have been operating on social media platforms like Twitter, Telegram and YouTube channels to promote their cause and lure unemployed youth to carry out terror activities.

In the early 1990s, LeT is the largest terror group formed and is actively engaged in reviving the network in Anantnag area. It is working through various offshoots in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
