Tamil Nadu: On Saturday, Actor Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) joined DMK-led alliance. The alliance has extended its support to MNM for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The MNM allotted one seat for the 2025 Rajya Sabha polls. Amid speculations that Haasan’s party might be allotted seats to contest the Parliamentary polls. The agreement was finalized between Haasan and DMK President and Chief Minister M K Stalin at the DMK headquarters in Chennai.
Actor Kamal Haasan said, “My party and I are not contesting this election. But we will give all cooperation to this alliance. We have joined hands as this is not just for a position, this is for the nation.”
After the meeting with the DMK, party general secretary Arunachalam said, “Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) is not contesting (Lok Sabha elections), the party will support and campaign for a seat for MNM in the Rajya Sabha (in 2025).”
Actir Haasan said his decision to join the alliance was motivated by the welfare of the country and not by personal gain. MNM has pledged its full support to the alliance and will be involved in campaign-related activities on all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region.
