Tamil Nadu MP Ganeshamurthi dies of cardiac arrest at the age of 77

Tamil Nadu: On Thursday morning, Erode MP and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) senior functionary A. Ganeshamurthi died at the age of 77 due to cardiac arrest at 5.05 a.m. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore.

A Ganeshamurthy (77), a three-time MP from Erode constituency, was a senior functionary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK). He won the 2019 Lok Sabha election on the MDMK symbol.

On March 24, he allegedly consumed poison and was rushed to a private hospital in Erode, where he was given first aid. He was later moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore, where his condition remained critical. He died in the morning.

Reportedly, the MDMK MP attempted suicide by consuming ‘pesticide tablet’ mixed in water, claimed reports. He was elected to the Lok Sabha thrice. Party sources said the body would be taken to his residence at Periyar Nagar in Erode and would be kept for public homage.
