Telangana: 20-year-old engineering student dies by suicide at his house in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The police said that a 20-year-old engineering student died by suicide at his house in Hyderabad. He added that his family members today alleged that he took the extreme step due to harassment from officials of an online loan app over repayment.

Hyderabad: The police said that a 20-year-old engineering student died by suicide at his house in Hyderabad. He added that his family members today alleged that he took the extreme step due to harassment from officials of an online loan app over repayment.

About this incident, Police said that The deceased was a BTech third-year student. He hanged himself from the ceiling fan on Monday, when nobody else was in the house. He added that after the incident, they are also investigating the allegations of harassment by the loan app executives.

After a preliminary investigation, police said the student had borrowed from his friends and other students in the college apart from the online loan app. They said that he had also lost money playing online games and was reportedly upset about the financial debts.

He had repaid Rs 3 lakh of the loan amount, according to his father. Family members said that despite repaying the loan, the agents of the app were harassing other family members and relatives by calling them to repay the loan.

After this, the boy committed suicide. On allegations of harassment by loan app agents, a police officer from Gudimalkapur police station said, “We are investigating this too.” He added,”the police has not found any suicide note. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.”
